ARC Review & Giveaway: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me
By: Tahereh Mafi
Release Date: February 5th/13!!!
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pre-order Here or here
Synopsis courtesy of Goodreads:
tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

My Thoughts:

Wow, I thought Shatter Me was epic, Unravel Me blew it out of the water!

Juliette continues to be one of my favourite YA heroines and she faces a whole new set of struggles in Unravel Me, with her powers and the men in her life.

Unravel Me, basically picks up where Shatter Me left off, Juliette and Adam have joined the rebel resistance and our currently staying at the Omega Point Headquarters, where they attempt to master their skills "powers". Although I felt that this plot point resembled the X-men Academy, Mafi does a great job of putting her own unique spin on the mutant "Super Power" theme. Of course her ability to write amazing metaphors three dimensional characters, doesn't hurt either. We're introduced to a whole new batch of rebels and it was nice to see Juliette make some actual friends!

My heart broke for Adam and Juliette in this instalment. Adam has been keeping a VERY important secret from Juliette, that has some serious consequences their relationship. But not to fear, Juliette always has Warner waiting on the sidelines. Yes, that's right, Warner is back, and he plays a very important role in Unravel Me, we actually get to see a whole different side to him that may have some Adam fans switching sides haha. I do have one complaint about the men in this instalment and that's that I wish Adam was written in more. We were given so many great Juliette/Adam scenes in Shatter Me, and don't get me wrong, there's quite a few good ones in Unravel Me, I guess I just can never get enough Adam haha.

There's also a MAJOR plot twist regarding Adam and Warner, I won't say what but it's a good one!

Along with a great cast of characters, Mafi also does a great job of blending suspenseful action into Unravel Me- they are preparing for a war after all.

And that ending! Why Mafi, why? I need book #3 yesterday!!!

If you loved Shatter Me you're guaranteed to love Unravel Me!

Happy Reading!!!

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading

This week's teaser comes from Jessica Brody's upcoming March release, Unremembered!

Enjoy!

"Who are  you?" I demand.
I watch the smile vanish from his face. Replaced by a dismal frown. His thick brown eyebrows knit together, forming a deep crease in his forehead. "It's true then, isn't it?"

I have one request

I had planned to do an ARC giveaway of Unravel Me today, but after the horrific events of late last week, I wanted to take the time to send my condolences to all those who have been affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

As I write this post I realize that there really are no words for what happened, it was horrific, senseless and my heart goes out to all those innocent souls who's lives ended much before their time.

I have one request for all those who read this post, and that is, to not be afraid to ask for help if you need it. There is never any shame in seeking out help, never.

My prayers, and my family's prayers are with all of you.

Book Blitz: Spellbound series by Nikki Jefford

Today I'm happy to be hosting a spectacular book blitz to celebrate Nikki Jefford's upcoming novel, Enchament (Spellbound #3)!!!

Entangled (Spellbound #1)
By: Nikki Jefford
Now Available!!!

Two months after dying, seventeen-year-old witch Graylee Perez wakes up in her twin sister Charlene’s body.

Until Gray finds a way back inside her own body, she’s stuck being Charlene every twenty-hour hours. Her sister has left precise instructions on how Gray should dress and behave. Looking like a prep isn’t half as bad as hanging out with Charlene’s snotty friends and gropey boyfriend.

The “normals” of McKinley High might be quick to write her behavior off as post-traumatic stress, but warlock Raj McKenna is the only person who suspects Gray has returned from the dead.

Now Gray has to solve the mystery of her death and resurrection and disentangle herself from Charlene’s body before she disappears for good.

Duplicity (Spellbound #2)
By: Nikki Jefford
Now Available!!!

If Graylee Perez thought sharing a body with her twin sister was bad, dealing with a duplicate of herself is two times worse. Gray the second doesn’t seem to get that Lee’s boyfriend, Raj McKenna, is off limits. Then there’s the problem of Adrian Montez. He expects one of the Grays to be his.

Nearly a year later, the council is onto them for past misdeeds; Lee, along with the rest of the coven, has lost control of her powers; and Gray is being stalked by what looks like the Grim Reaper. If they work together, they may stand a chance of setting things right and making it out alive.

Enchantment (Spellbound #3)
By: Nikki Jefford
Release Date: April 2013

In the third and final installment of the Spellbound series, Graylee Perez (the duplicate), goes to Spain for a summer of escape. There she meets new friends and comes face to face with her old adversary, Adrian Montez.

When Gray tries to setup a spell that will banish Adrian from her life, she inadvertently falls under a love spell instead.

Charlene returns, having hijacked a new body, for one final battle between the twins.

Here's a special teaser from Enchantment just for you!!!

Make The Girl Love You (Enchantment, Spellbound #3)

IN THIS SCENE:
Adrian’s grandmother returns in book three, accompanying him on his magic tour in Europe.

“This food no good.”

Adrian’s Nan glared down at the plate of paella the waiter had set before her.

They were seated at an antique marble table attached to legs made of curly cast-iron supports. It was only noon, which made Adrian and his Nan the first lunch customers of the day. The Spaniards wouldn’t be out for their mid-day meal till closer to two.

Adrian was already three bites into his dish. “There’s nothing wrong with the food, Nan.”

“Food better in Paris.”

“Spanish food is fine. You just miss the pastries.”

“What wrong with pastries?”

Adrian grinned. “Come on, you have to admit it’s good to get out of the apartment.”

Nan scowled in answer.

His Nan had barely stepped foot outside since arriving in Barcelona two weeks prior.

“Why we come to Spain?”

“I told you. I had an opportunity to perform.”

“Perform!” Nan spat on the ground then tossed up her arms. “You perform plenty in Paris. I know why we come to Spain. The girl.”

Nan missed the look of warning on Adrian’s face.

“You almost kill yourself for this girl and still I no meet.”

“I did not almost kill myself for her. It doesn’t matter, anyway. She hates me.” She probably hated him even more after last night. It was of little consequence. Adrian had not expected to see Graylee Perez again, at least not this soon. Her mother had forbidden it. He smirked at the thought. No one forbade Adrian Montez anything.

Nan huffed. “Love. Hate. Doesn’t matter. You powerful warlock. Make girl love you.”

Adrian wasn’t above manipulation or the use of magic to get what he wanted, but in this instance the mere thought of it made him physically recoil. “I am Adrian Hedrick Montez. I will have a woman’s sincere love or I won’t have it at all.”

Nan huffed again.

Adrian smiled slowly. “Besides, I already have the love of a good woman.”

Nan came the closest to a giggle as Adrian had ever heard. Her lips puckered into a brief smile and she actually took a bite of her food. But as soon as she’d swallowed, she leaned forward and asked, “When we return to Paris?”

It was like dealing with a four-year-old.

I only just found out about this week's pick, but it looks EPIC! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

By: Stacey Kade
Release Date: April 23rd/13.
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

3. Don’t get involved.

5. Don’t fall in love.

Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane’s survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans in a small Wisconsin town, to hide in plain sight at her high school from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) “project.”

But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief’s son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules…

ARC/Indie Review: Bad Rep by A. Meredith Walters

Bad Rep
by A. Meredith Walters
Release Date: December 21st/12.
Source: E-ARC from author
Bad Rep on Goodreads
Synopsis courtesy of Goodreads:

"Who gives a damn about their reputation? Oh, that would be me! Especially since mine had gone straight to hell in the span of thirty minutes".

Maysie Ardin is soaking up the summer before her junior year of college, shopping, hanging by the pool and shopping some more. But when her black belt in spending lands her in trouble with her parents, she is forced to take a second job at a local bar to dig herself out of a deep financial pit.

She thought she’d be miserable. But then Maysie didn’t count on Jordan Levitt, the hot, pierced and tattooed, drum playing bartender who also happens to be very interested in her. And the feelings are totally mutual.

It had the makings of the perfect romantic set up. Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy has girlfriend? Okay, maybe not.

But attraction is a hard thing to ignore and soon Jordan and Maysie find themselves in the middle of a gossip induced firestorm. Maysie has to learn whether she can set aside her fear of public disapproval in order to be with the one she wants. Or will she let the opinions of others dictate her life and her heart?

My Thoughts:
Another great New Adult title! Definitely a Kindle-Crack read!

I've been having the best luck lately with my reading, everything is just so good! But on to BAD REP or more precisely, the sexy Jordan Levitt. How sexy is that name, right? Just rolls off the tongue. Personally, I felt as though Jordan was too good to be true and I wanted to strangle Maysie's insecurities out of her. I'm not one for facial piercings but for Jordan I'm willing to make the exception :). He's kind, smart, popular, funny, romantic as all hell and HOT!!! I think I could take a Bad Rep to be with him, haha.

My only complaint about Jordan was his reluctance to end things with Olivia, Maysie's arch rival, or is she? You'll just have to read to find out!

I was conflicted with Maysie a bit in the beginning, but after reading the first few scenes between her and Jordan, I started to enjoy reading from her perspective and was rooting for her all the way to the end, which I was sad to see come. I think a lot of us can relate to Maysie in her need to be liked. She goes through quite a lot to be with Jordan and I felt really bad about the way others treated her without knowing the full story. Although I felt like this was very realistic of most Greek Sororities and Frat houses. Walters does a great job of penning her insecurities and it was always nice to see Jordan there to save the day.

I can't finish this review without mentioning the steam factor between these two. O Lordy was there steam! So many amazing quotes from Jordan that had me sighing, he really is the best boyfriend ever!

Fans of Thoughtless and Beautiful Disaster are sure to enjoy Walter's upcoming release. This was my first read of hers, but I can promise you it won't be my last!

Please say there'll be a book #2!

Happy Reading!!!
