Synopsis courtesy of Goodreads:

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

My Thoughts:

Well she's done it again...

Armentrout has written another terrific instalment to her Covenant series. Actually, I would go as far as to say that Deity is the best of all three!

We see a great deal of growth with regard to the characters in Deity, especially Alex. She's concerned that she's turning into an Apollyon, and how that will affect the kind of person she will become. I felt that Alex matured a lot in this instalment. The reader was given a much more thoughtful heroine this time around. Don't get me wrong, there was still quite a bit of butt kicking and sarcasm that we've come to know and love, but I appreciated the vulnerability that Jennifer wrote for Alex.

And let's not forget the epic love triangle! Armentrout definitely turned up the steam in book 3 (with both love interests). Alex's bed seems to be full of men throughout this one, haha. Sexy times to be had (by whom though? Well you'll just have to read to find out!) Alex does make a decision between Aiden and Seth, unfortunately it is short lived.

Be warned, the cliffhanger ending of Deity is a killer! I can't wait to see where Armentrout plans to take Alex in book 4!

Fans of Armentrout and her Covenant series will NOT be disappointed with Deity! Go ahead, give it a read, you know you want to :).

Happy Reading!!!

  1. Ah. Love triangle. I must admit that it's the primary reason I haven't jumped into this bandwagon. I'm glad you loved it, though. :)

    1. Hey Joyous Reads! I hear that a lot about love triangles, but you should still give this series a try the love triangle doesn't completely overshadow the plot of it :)
